Perry Hall Children’s Center is a state licensed preschool located in Perry Hall, MD, close to the intersection of Belair Road and Chapel Road. Conveniently located within 5 miles of 695.
Perry Hall Children’s Center is a non-profit preschool maintained by the Board of Directors, a compilation of current parents/guardians who voluntarily serve as the administrators of PHCC.
Perry Hall Children’s Center was founded on the belief that the entire family is essential in helping children build a strong educational foundation. All parents/guardians of current students at PHCC voluntarily take turns assisting teachers in the classroom, volunteering for one of the many necessary jobs (which may be in or out of the classroom) and sharing in the business operations of the school. PHCC’s philosophy is based on parent/guardian involvement while providing developmentally appropriate programs in accordance with Maryland State Department of Education curriculum guidelines.
Perry Hall Children’s Center was founded by a group of parents who recognized the importance of parental involvement in the education of young children.
Since 1968, we have served families who had a special desire to share in their child’s first school experience. We believe the efforts, individual talents, and the direct involvement of the parents/guardians during the school day make for a unique educational endeavor.
The mission of the Perry Hall Children’s Center is to provide a place where children may grow academically, emotionally, creatively, physically, mentally and socially through organized activities as directed by the teachers.
The school offers developmentally appropriate programs in a nurturing, loving, safe and stimulating environment, in which parent/guardian involvement enriches the learning process.
In order to promote individualized attention for each student, our class sizes are:
Three Year Old Classes meet from 8:30-11:30 am on Monday & Wednesday.
Four Year Old Classes meet from 8:30 – 12:30 am on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.
*Optional extended days on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday until 2:30 pm.
Our three children have all been students at PHCC and have experienced the 3s and 4s programs. We have a son and two daughters and each loved their teacher, it was such a special first school experience to watch each of them interact and form relationships in a small group setting. Not only did our kids form their first school friends there, our family made lifelong friends there. I can’t express enough how warm the atmosphere is and how much the parents support one another. The field trips were also more than we could’ve imagined.
We decided to send our son to Perry Hall Children’s Center on the recommendation from a friend who sent her 3 kiddos there and also LOVED her experience. Our son was in the 4 year old class – he is an only child and had never been in a daycare or school setting ever. He felt so comfortable and welcomed to the school. So much learning – in a way that the kids are having so much fun they don’t even realize HOW MUCH they are learning and absorbing. Chrissy makes every day and every child feel so comfortable and loved. The different stations of learning, the memorable songs, the familiarity of routines, the endless crafts, the family feel – all things we are so blessed to have taken away from from PHCC. We gained friendships and memories to last a lifetime. My only regret is not finding them a year sooner to have my son in the 3 year old program – and being cut short due to a pandemic. (But I will say regardless of a pandemic they went ABOVE AND BEYOND – to still have Zoom classes, materials pickup, distanced graduation, consistent checking in and care for our child)
My children are 15 months apart so when we were beginning to look at pre-school programs for our oldest, we knew it would be a commitment for both of our kids. We wanted a program that was local, affordable and would prepare our kids for kindergarten. PHCC had all the qualities we looking for. They provide a high quality early childhood education at a significantly lower cost than other schools in the area. The curriculum is challenging and age-appropriate. Both of my children gained so much knowledge and confidence in preparation for kindergarten and developed great relationships with their teacher and other classmates. The teacher, Mrs. McHugh, truly loves her students and is dedicated to serving their families and providing a safe, supportive environment for the students to grow and develop. We couldn’t be more enthusiastic or proud to recommend PHCC to any families who are considering this opportunity for their child!
It was very special being a part of my daughter’s first school experience at PHCC. I loved getting to know the teacher, students and other families. My daughter learned so much during her time there. I would highly recommend this preschool for anyone looking for a part time option to socialize your child and start their education!
